The price premium about buying new was always the biggest issue. Because you pay over the odds, and actually have to do without a few options when it gets stupid. But the experience of chosing the spec and ordering at the dealer and then seeing your car being assembled at the factory is priceless. I was there five days across the two week assembly of my Plus 4. Saw the body tub attached to the chassis, saw it in the trim shop having the leather installed, saw the dashboard assembled on the bench, saw the first gallon of fuel go in, and a lot more besides. That's not for everybody, but that was for me. From 2003 to 2008 I maintained a complex spreadsheet of Plus 8s and Roadsters for sale. There were a lot. My requirements were extensive. Wire wheels and over-riders. Easy Up hood in black mohair. Black interior. Not metallic paint and very choosy on colour. In five years of looking, not a single car ticked all the boxes, until in 2008, my Roadster actually did.
