Welcome Ben,
Yes I thought Morgan could help with paint colour too, how wrong I was! I have a non recognised standard colour too and the paint code is stamped on the I.D. plate on the car and in the owners hand book. Basically it seems to mean nothing. It's a Glasurit paint and their site has no reference to it so I contacted Morgan who assured me the paint code was correct! Long story short, the only way I could match it was by getting it scanned. Apart from which if the car has any age there will be some change to the colour and this will vary around the whole car. My body shop scanned the paint from an unweathered area then made assessments around the car and most were fractionally different. They explained that they would use the area that required repair to best achieve a result. I only wanted touch up paint for a stone chip too!
My son has a 2012 VW Polo and a stag jumped out of a wooded area hitting the front wing of his car damaging the wing and both doors. We bought new wing, and breakers yard doors which they sprayed and fitted. The car is a special order colour called shadow and is a dark metallic blue, I was expecting a demented leopard in various shades when we picked it up...... Blimey, you couldn't see the joins!
Shortly after my car left the factory Morgan ceased using Glasurit paints, a german company, and for all you animal lovers the stag didn't even have a headache!
