There's more..............Clopidogrel is prescribed as the blood thinner, but at my check over yesterday, the Consultant was filling me in with more detail. This medication is inert until it gets into your liver. Your liver converts it into compounds which can then affect the blood. Research is showing that around 30% of Caucasians do not have the required gene, and so without this, Clopidogrel is not activated in the liver.
The NHS is sponsoring a review of this and the only hospital involved is at Doncaster. So yesterday I had another blood sample taken which is going to a lab in Liverpool for a genome test. If I'm one of the 30%, the answer is aspirin, 75mg.
So we'll see.
