Totally agree Paul F, my parents were members of their local U3a and remained active well into their late 80s participating in many activities. If for whatever reason you can't get out and about then doing simple exercises and stretches (especially for hip and core) at home on a daily basis will make a world of difference to mobility and balance. I have bad knees and hips from my military days the doctors want to replace everything, I wanted to stay original as long as possible so I took up a daily non impact exercise regime of flexing and stretching. Stuck at it for a couple of months so it became an habitual regime of 10 minutes a day, has made a world of difference, no knee pain and my hips are considerably more flexible and stronger.
