Thanks for all the replies, interesting reading. I had thought it was caused by calliper tolerances being slightly different in that the near side older calliper was running the released pads a very small bit closer to the disc. Not binding but just clearing the water film a little bit more than the newer off side. The reason being the new off side calliper, whilst the same as the old near side, is manufactured by the replacement for Caparo, who have stopped trading. After reading your kind replies not sure replacing the near side will actually improve things. They are pricey.
