When I got the S2 many many years ago it had a quite extensive kit.
The front has taken many a hit from stones and flies and cleans up well despite it being early gen plastic.
It has coloured a little now but you do have to look to see it. Most people don't.
The Coupe came with it from the factory, awkwardly it needed a few resprays due to some issues and they had to reapply it after each respray which added quite a bit of time. It probably also cost the factory quite a bit more as a result.
I declared it on my insurance and did not get any uplift. I suspect Simons comments around reinstatement costs are true.
I think your friend has been following the wrong threads in my personal opinion. I would rate Ceramic as a lot better than 90% of conventional polishes, especially for bird poop from what I have seen. If only because the prep that tends to get done for Ceramic means more time is spent on it. There are still some pants quality ceramics mind you.
