That's a bit odd. Paint defects would be sorted and polished THEN the final ceramic added to " perfect" paintwork. The factory final inspection bay is where they look for and polish any defects. If already coated then that removes it. I'm up there next week so will ask. I think the ceramic coating is an extra when specc'ing a car?
The ceramic is basically a micro thin coating designed to last longer than waxes. You can wax a ceramic treated finish though, some detailing fanatics do so with waxes designed to promote water beading/run-off for that extra finish.
