Luddite, yes I remember the transition to two pack isocyanate paints. My dad retired not long after due to not wanting to work with them. Unfortunately he developed emphasemia so retired before having to use them, even with spray booths with clean air supply.
One thing he started to teach me was hand painting. The old Rolls Royce method. From memory, slightly thicker paint with good brushes, wet sanding between coats and final polishing.
Whenever we used cellulose it was finished by cutting back with Farecla cutting paste to take off the fresh sprayed look and blend in panels.
One job I had was prepping vans for a respray. Several vans from car size to big removal vans that a local company had. Rubbing down huge areas with wet and dry.....😱😄😥🖐🏻 skinless fingers, masking tape for protection....
