Has anyone fitted a “dry break” connector to the rear brake?.
Yes! I have.
Ideally you would want to shorten the brake line and fit a short flexible line from the brake so that the connection is somewhere along the swing arm to give the flexibility to do the half twist to make and break the connection. I just have a 90 degree swivel elbow on a nipple into the slave cylinder then the dry break and a small bracket to support it.
I would describe it as almost essential but it definitely isn't quite there. When breaking the connection, I always have a small screwdriver in my hand as the self sealing valve on the master cylinder side often sticks open and needs lightly prodded with the screwdriver to get it to seal properly. I don't think it seals all air bubbles out quite as well as you would hope but, I very much do not need to bleed the brake every time I disconnect it and I was never happy leaving the line connected when taking the wheel out so I had needed to bleed it very often before I fitted it.
