It’s such a personal choice that it’s impossible to give a recommendation. I would suggest a long door car with galvanised chassis as an easy car to live with but my first Morgan was a 1981 4/4 with Ford Kent engine, no brake servo, no rack and pinion steering, no nothing really and it was brilliant, absolutely loved it and still miss it but it’s so far from anything you have probably driven that it may be too much of a shock. My 2004 4/4 was like a Bentley in comparison and loved that too. Only car I didn’t gel with was a GDI plus 4. Have driven a number of roadsters and the power steering and effortless power may be more to your liking. I haven’t driven a cx chassis car but could be tempted by a plus four auto.
My favourite compromise, all Morgans have their pros and cons, is a Plus 4 Duratec with the MX5 gearbox as it’s a lovely reliable engine, the gearbox is brilliant, galvanised chassis and easy up hood. That’s only my opinion though and completely understand why others prefer their cars.
