It's tempting to get a spare MAF, but it's such a rare occurence. I had the Roadster run a bit unevenly a few years ago, and a squirt of MAF cleaner sorted it. That's the usual routine. This is another reason why I don't really worship oiled filters like K&N, because there's a risk of oil droplets contaminating the MAF sensor.

I picked one up a few years ago but have never fitted it. They aren't expensive but my reasoning was that with a 2007 engine they might become unavailable in the future. Even now they are only around £90 on eBay.

Yesterday I did decide to have a look at mine and gave it a good squirt of sensor cleaner. I do have an oiled K&N filter but I rarely re-oil it and have never had a problem with contamination.
