Looks like the bolt/ large washer is between the blue mark on the steering column and the end of the ash frame?
I wonder if just removing the leather covered panel underneath might give enough acces to the nut? Maybe no need to remove the dash. A replacement nyloc nut would be good to use. Be careful with the socket head area on the pillar outside. Potential to nick the paint so mask the area first.
Any info for removal of the panel?
I set today aside to start the attempt. I managed to do it in just over an hour, easier than I feared.
The RH (drivers side) was easy to reach with a 10mm spanner by undoing 3 Allen head screws and removing the leather panel under the dash to the right of the steering column. Access was tight and I didn't fancy trying to remove the nut. I just gave it a firm snugging up.
The left / passenger side took longer. I removed 2 Allen screws from the leather panel left of the glove box. It wouldn't come off though and I couldn't find any other screws holding it. Then I noticed 2 rivets on the adjacent vertical face, inside the glove box. It turns out these hold a bracket which a fixing inside the leather panel slides on to. Pulling the panel backwards and slightly upwards released it. Access to the loose windscreen pillar nut was even tighter on this side, but possible to slide a spanner in and tighten from the Allen head outside. Maybe I was lucky, but the leather panel slid back over the hidden bracket 1st time and both sides were easy to locate and tighten the Allen trim screws.
Job done. Nyloc or loctite would have been nice, but I didn't have enough access, I'm sure i would have dropped nuts behind the dash!
