Update - I drove the car for over 200 miles this past weekend without a problem. I have been keeping it fed with high octane fuel and it shut down calmly every time except for one when it shuddered for only a second. It seems that it must be the carbs, mixture, and type of fuel that has caused the issue. Of course the weather was fantastic. It wasn't more than 77 degrees F.
