What I'm really waiting for is the Mk11 car, lighter, faster, even more nimble, and even more fun.
Paul I'm not sure how to respond to this but its certainly the most fun I've every had on 3 wheels and I'm not sure what could be done to improve that apart from the weather here in blighty.
Steven, as Simon has said my 3 wheeler has now got over 2600 miles on it so I'll comment as to how I see it.
I was fortunate enough to get to go in one of the early development cars, and in all honesty it was rough, but looking beyond the vibration shaking out my teeth I knew I wanted one, and I've not been disappointed.
My car has been driven in all weather conditions the only thing it hasn't experienced is snow (yet). In terms of finish I don't think you can fault the paint and trim finish and it has been commented on other threads that detailers always comment on the quality of the paint work on MMC vehicles.
The exposed sections of the chassis have shown some signs of deterioration from flying debris and will need touching up, but this I am told by Caterham owners is parr for the course, where stones hit the wishbones, the track rods on the threaded sections have also shown some signs of light rusting but again they are exposed to elements. I've painted mine which took all of 5 minutes, and I'm sure I'll do them again as the car gets used.
Being an early car I always knew I would be part of the customer development programme and if I'm honest the level of development from my part has been lower that expected. The only thing of concern for me is the bevel box and Quaife have now resolved the problems and a Mk2 box will be fitted shortly.
Funny enough I'm at the factory today getting my aero serviced and I stopped off to talk to the guys in the 3 wheeler shop, to talk about a few improvements, only to find Theyr are one step in front of me and the small repeat small concerns I have are being dealt with xon the later production cars, one of these being the use of stainless steel bolts on some of the engine fixings.
So some questions from my ownership to date.
Do I regret buying my 3 wheeler? Without doubt no.
What would I change? The weather in blighty so I could use it more.
I always saw this car has a work in progress, the factory would provide me with a blank canvas and I'd bespoke it in the way I wanted. I took a local petrol head out in both the aero and the 3 wheeler yesterday and this is a guys whose a bits of a car slut, his comment on another forum was "one of the mot fun cars I've ever been in" he also said to me it made you feel one with the surrounding environment, seeing as it wasn't raining I took that to be a positive statement rather than meaning he was bloody wet.
Steve if you jump back on the list I'm sure by the time you get around to collecting even the most minor issues will have been sorted. (not that I kno what they are)
I'll leave it on this note a friend of mine has a Caterham R500 and I can see no difference in the quality of these two vehicles, except if you park them side by side, you know what one will get the most attention.
