Leaf spring sort of squeak?
If so, jack up eack back corner and spray motorcycle chain wax in between each leaf of the rear springs.

I had that squeak too. Greased the rear springs and packed them with grease-filled gaiters to no avail - it were the wirewheels as I found out much later...

I'm pretty sure it's the suspension. If you rock the rear of the car up and down even slightly you get a loud squeaking noise. I'm determined to sort it though so thanks for the suggestion. Everything else about the car is absolutely perfect (!!)

Just so long as the squeaking isn't due to the same problem as in this previous thread...

That had me worried until I read the thread ..... no, that's not the problem - though previous experience says it was easier to deal with mice in the garage than stop the rear suspension squeaking !!!

There should be a screw on the underside - bit of a fiddle with the shape of the wing...

Cheers,

Hi Peter, our cars are similar age.
I had the same issue, fixed under warrantee.
The incorrect headlamp surround was fitted on the one side. In my case it was the near side. It did come off but was retained by the screw. Put a bit of masking tape across the rim and the body until you get it fixed.
To confirm, if you take off both rims and then put them back to back you may see a slight inference in size.
