Maybe we could ship it to Charlie in the states and tell him it's his new M3W.

Seeing his reaction would make a good YouTube video. scared

The earlier cowl - I have it on my 2005 4/4 - is a LandRover part including stalks and ignition switch direct from a Mk1 Discovery or Mk1 Freelander. This is of reasonable quality and shows off the whole of the fluted boss on the Motolita (which is aluminium not s/s), and as it's black goes well with my black leather. The leather covered solution on the Allon White website is the earlier cowl.

I agree the new cowl is just nasty and cheap.

If the Allon White cowl is the earlier type, then that does fit the later cars as its fitted to my 2010 car. Before I bought the AW cowl I discussed it with Mike Duncan who thought the cowls were sourced from a Land Rover but we never tracked down which model. Now we know thumbs

Ledgerwood Cowl Enquiry Reply

Hello David,

The cowl trimming is now a factory fitted option on the production line when
the car is being built and trimmed.

The metallic cowl you mention is a German company (I'm sorry the name
escapes me at the moment) and this involves changing all of the
indicator/wiper arms on the steering column which I would not recommend or
carry out.

With best regards
Phil Ledgerwood

Subject: Classic wheel cowl

Please advise if the wheel cowl on your Roadster is factory fitted, or have
you retro fitted it.

Do you provide this cowl service?

I have seen a metallic cowl, I think is yours, but do you also offer similar
trim matched as per Roadster?

I would have thought that that would be Mk Holztechnik, but their cowls certainly would not need the stalks changing
