Just measured my stock OEM wheels and the rims are 6.5in wide so can fit either 185 55 R15 (+0.9% on stock)or even 195 55 R15 (+2.8% on stock).
Probably fit the 185 T1R's.. no need for the Mag Minilite's.. especially as they were getting on for 2.8k a set!! [/quote]
I'm sure you measured correctly but 6.5in was not 'normal'. Most 4/4s from this period came with 4.5in and 5.0in wheels. Maybe the first owner fitted a wider set of Lemmerz rims?

Lifes have looked after the car from new (or near enough) maybe they will be able to fill me in. Maybe they are OEM at least I'll know... Just think.. I might have to downgrade the wheels to get though scrutinearing!!.........rats.

right.. spoken to Lifes... the wheels it has are the only set they have ever seen fitted to it. They have looked after it since only a few hundred miles old and are sure they are the original wheels - the only minor change is a paint referb at some point - hence no black inserts.

They will know better than I. I just didn't find this size in John Worrall's book.

I must admit I'll be looking in our Morgan archive at home. I asked Lifes if they would mind offering a letter of support if I get queried at scrutineering just in case.
Another port of call is Steve Morris at the factory.
I guess it's a case of trial and error.. I don't want to purchase wheels if I don't have to.

Meanwhile I've looked in other books. Your wheels are mentioned all the time, tyres size as well (up to 175), but never the size. One more reason I was surprised to read 6.5 was that these wheels are VW (beetle) wheels and the maximum size I remember was 5.5.
Trial and error: I agree.

Right... I've been out with the tape measure again..
This time for the PCD and the offset..
on a 6.5 x 15 rim I have the following:
PCD: 130mm Offset: 25mm
