Having a few hours of spare time I decided to put the side screens in their nice mohair cover and mount them on the luggage rack. There is a space below the main cross members which seems to be for that purpose. Like most good ideas, it immediately hit a snag. The high level brake light assembly gets in the way and makes it impossible to use the allocated space. As far as I can see, it either means removing the brake light and thus possibly making the car illegal too use, or put the screens behind the back seats. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, whats the solution ? Neil

Leave the sidescreens on the car?
My rack doesn't have sidescreen storage and I think racks look ugly with that gap under the rails, plus it would put a suitcase another 6 inches higher. I keep mine behind the seats on the rare occasions I don't use them.

Is there not the capability to remove one of the rack crossmembers to allow the screens into place. My rack can be unscrewed at one end then hinges up.

Neil There are quite a few variations in luggage racks but mine had a split pin, which when removed allows that sprung loaded bar to move, this then allows you to fit the side screens without sliding in from the top. Not sure if you have this type. Dave

That's the same as mine, but I rarely use it. It's easier to put them behind the seats. Also, I imagine that the cover would very soon be filthy! Ian

I have a 2010 plus 4 and the mohair screen bag fits in nicely tucking in underneath the high level brake light. The set up is slightly different to the picture shown. On my version there is a a fastener to unscrew on the right hand side of the luggage rack which rotates allowing for the sidescreen bag to slide in.

Thanks for the feedback. I will investigate further. I do know that I do not have the split pin version, so perhaps the bar is secured by a bolt.
Thanks

All sorted now - the cross member had a phillips screw which needed to be undone and the bar swings back. A little tight with the cover on the side screens but managed to store it securely.
It would have been useful to have a knob to undo rather than resort to a Philips screwdriver. Perhaps I maybe able to source something suitable.
Just another job added to the long list

Could you add a wing nut? I don't have this system - so I'm just guessing.

A wing nut makes it too easy for the unwashed to interfere.
