Chris, I have finally fitted my PC925 including the cleaning of the positive terminal area below the washer bottle. This appears to be a junction for a number of leads, including the positive cable running to the starter. There was some sulphur build up on that connector which may have been unhelpful. The car started with a very lively turn over with the battery straight out of the box. I have put the battery conditioner, CTEC, in place with the setting for trickle at the highest, hopefully it will survive for a season or two. Dave

This winter I had the car in a friends "open fronted" barn and all I done was isolate the car (the red "button") and after six weeks it started straight away - no trickle charge etc. So I am more confudsed with the issue with these type of battery's failing so much. Anyway, its good news!!

Did you check you mileage, your friends may have been giving it a run on your behalf. Good news though.

Sorry, not aware of a racing tweek, but would be interested. Incidently the new battery is still performing well after 6 months, never missed a start, unlike one before.

Thanks, will do, I am beginning to have a problem now and again at 29,000 miles, not sure if it's the motor or the battery as yet. Aero starter motors appear to fail at 24-30 k miles ?.

Aero starters fail on a cycle. The duration to first failure can vary from 10k to 25k miles ish.... but after that they fail on a steady frequency.. though most people don't rack up the mileage for it to be a problem.
The trick is making sure you use a quality part as a replacement and to use a process which makes this job almost a serviceable item.
Always clean the wiring at the same time as this is clearly a contributing factor as you observe.

Hello, I installed a new Odyssey battery a couple of years ago (the previous was was 9 years old) when I started to get the clicking. With the new battery the problem disappeared but now it's doing it again.
I cleaned all the terminals and electrical junctions I could get to but no improvement. So to start I had to keep pressing the start button for 1-2 mins and eventually it starts; not an ideal situation.
Not convinced that my battery was tired already I thought I'd test it by putting a jump lead from the +ive terminal of the battery to the + block at the front of the engine. The car starts every time when I do this telling me that there's a problem on the + ive side to the starter from the battery. Wings are due off shortly for the annual service so I hope to be able to find the culprit then.
Cheers
Philip
