Cars and bikes did not have to be registered until 1924 when the Road Traffic Act became law - hence the anomalies. The car is 1912 - verified by the MTWC Some of the electrics ie HT leads have been replaced as the originals perished - and a fuse box added (I think?) But if you look at the car overall - its an amazing example of an unrestored car - fettled a little yes - but not restored. I agree about paint/chrome on restorations - I had a job to persuade my plater to only plate dull nickle on parts for my 1920 Triumph - which is the correct finish! Definitely not chrome!!

Martyn - I have nothing against restorations per se, I have even performed a few full restos myself. Certainly improvements or necessary mods need to be considered and implemented from time to time in order to maintain a vehicle's roadworthiness, especially through decades of usage . My comment was intended to convey my negative sentiments directed towards the increasingly pervasive attitude in the car hobby suggesting an almost compulsive desire for erasing the past and throwing out and replacing/refurbishing anything that is aged despite it's retaining full function and serviceability. Sadly throwing history out the door and banishing it from appreciation by future generation/owners. To each his own however, Your car and Your money, "do as you please applies."

Not arguing! Trouble is a lot of 'restorers will replace a panel rather than work on it and have a slightly imperfect panel on view. And a heck of a lot a amateurs plaster a panel with filler. You can buy a cheap panel beating set for under £20, and a bit of practice will enable one to remove most panel imperfections and retain the panel. Registration numbers date from 1904, not 1924. See the excellent information sheet on the CVPG website. Number Plates

Wow... I've been reading a lot about the original "Morgan Runabouts" in this great book by Peter Miller: http://www.amazon.com/Morgan-Three-Wheel...organ+3+wheeler How great to see some original pics in the flesh... But I have a question for any of you MOG gurus. Isn't the car pictured missing the "coal scuttle" bonnet?

Had a few comments from a respected marque historian
1912 and front timing cover should be bronze I believe. Magneto drive exposed. Silencers should be aluminium. Oil pump should be a pumpful to keep engine topped up. Not a drip feed. Not 1912 footpedals.Steering wheel wrong and more.
I believe it's a 1924 Standard model. Front wheel brakes available after 1923. A DE LUXE model would have curved mudguards.
1920`s steering wheel and controls. Geared steering. Two part windscreen so driver can open a slit to peer through in heavy rain.
I've not raised it, but my name was spotted in the thread!
