Does my roadster have a fault or are all Trads the same, every time I take it out the four small gauges (oil, fuel etc) all mist up inside the glass

Mine don't (2005 reg 4/4, same instruments).
Has it got damp (or even over-humid) at some time? I would imagine that once a little moisture is inside an instrument it could well take some time to clear completely, as it is an almost-closed space. Especially when the ambient temp is low.
A little warmth over a period of time might help to drive that moisture out. How about setting up a battery charger, then leaving the instrument lights on for several days (I think this would need the ignition left on)?

I keep mine on a CTEK battery conditioner , not sure waht would happen if I left the ignition on for a long time

Andy,
As Nigel asked, has the car ever got wet inside? (not unlikely if you've driven it in the rain, or it is parked outside).
Do you garage store the car?
And crazy question but are you sure the mist is on the inside of the gauges?

Simon I keep it garaged, the condensation is on the inside. The guy I bought it off kept it garaged and it did the same when we took it out for a test. From other replies is appears to be a common problem. It does appear to reduce when the lights are on, proably heat from the bulbs drying things out. The speedo and revcounter don't mist up. Had a good run round today and the wife has declared 'she likes it'  (providing I keep off the loud pedal  Andy

Mine does it too, but with the lights on it goes quickly.

I understand that this is the reason the instrument lights are on all the time to give a bit of heat. Indeed. And I have also heard that the reason for the misting is that MMC picked the cheapest saloon car range from Smiths, instead of the slightly more expensive Smiths-recommended "weatherproof" ones. I have also seen a fix consisting of drilling a tiny hole in the back of the gauge, but haven't tried that personally.
