Hi everyone!
My wive and a are currently planning our summer holiday.
We might go to Croatia.
Since we have a +4 we were discussing if it is actually suitable for a longer distance travel (approx. 1.600km one way) on motorways.
Did anyone here made the experience of loger travels with the beauty yet? If so, could you share some experiences?

I did 1400 miles last weekend in my 4/4 with absolutely no problems at all. Longest stretch was about 400 miles in the pissing rain including a couple of hours in stop-start traffic on the Rotterdam ring road. The car never missed a beat and I was fine when we reached the hotel.
I would say that 1300km/800 miles is a bit ambitious if there's only one of you doing the driving, but if you take turns and doze when you're not behind the wheel you should be able to do it in a long day. Otherwise split your journey with an overnight stop for maximum enjoyment

Hello Mark,
I have just returned from the Mille Miglia driving the +4 there and back( around 2500 miles ) and the car never missed a beat. Of course, luggage is a bit of a problem but I use a dry bag on the rack.
As is expected, during some awful rain, my right leg was soaked as was my right arm but the heater soon dried them out.
I think the worse thing is on Motorways when your elbow is very close to the lorry wheel nuts and they pull out infront of your otherwise go for it, you will be fine!

Mark, Take the Morgan. You'll miss it if you don't!! A couple of years ago I drove my '76 4/4 from Lands End to John O'Groats, a total of 2182 miles in the space of a week... Along with Tim (Hamwich) above. We're off to the Scottish Highlands again soon, wouldn't want to leave the Mogs at home!

We did about 3,000 taking the long way round to bring our Plus 4 home last year. Plan on doing it in easy stages, see some of the sights on the way, and you will be fine. The Mog is actually more comfortable on a long trip than our Alfa. Luggage space is the only problem but at least, being summer (if it ever arrives)you won't have to pack too much in the way of heavy clothes. See my blog entry at http://blog.bradley.it/?p=149 I suggest you have a look at some of Dave' suggestions about keeping water out. If you have the model with the ECU box on top of the passengers feet (under the bonnet) you need to do something to keep the water out or it drips through the grommet onto the passenger's legs. I will post photo later.

I heartily agree with all the other guys- go for it! I did about 2,000 miles (3,200 Kms) around France, after spectating at the Le Mans Classic and loved every bit of it. The worst thing about driving in France is coming back to British traffic!!!
Like Reg (lowebird) I used a soft bag on the rear carrier and had plenty of luggage capacity.
Make sure you post some pictures on the forum after you get back home.

I did close to 1k last year and plan to do the same weekend trip this year. Great fun....GO FOR IT!

Mark My advice would be to go for it, as other TMers suggest; but plan for a couple of extra days for the journey. That will allow you time to turn off the motorway, at times, and just enjoy the pleasures of driving your Morgan.  We have taken my 4/4 to France or Northern Spain each year, since first getting the car in 2005 and now can't imagine a year without having a similar journey planned.  Bud __________ 2003 - 4/4

I would avoid the m ways if you can. But I regularly do Devon & back in a w/end. OK only 500 miles.

I have posted some photos of the ECU box fix here The other thing I did was to follow Dave's suggestion and I have put some neoprene on top of the windscreen pillars to seal the gap when the hood is up. With these two items the car is pretty waterproof. A little water seeps past the centre of the rail over the windscreen at 130 km/h (Easyup hood) but a couple of paper tissues can cope with that and it only has happened in heavy rain on the autostrada.
