Short: I've ended up with a brand new, still at the dealer, never driven, right hand drive Morgan 3 Wheeler in Germany. I expected left hand drive of course. Anyone want to trade or have suggestions for fixing the problem?
Long: Many months ago I paid a deposit, signed a contract, and reserved a 3 wheeler In Germany. It's just arrived at the dealer today and the steering wheel is on the wrong side. I'm certain that I never requested this but sure enough going back and giving the contract a close read it says right hand drive. I can't imagine why that is in there since Germany is a left hand drive country.
So now I'm in a bit of a panic. I've waited so long for this car and don't want to spend years driving awkwardly from the wrong side. Looking for anyone that wants to trade or would have suggestions about correcting the issue.
It's the Super Dry paint (moondust matte) without all the stickers. Quilted muirhead sable leather.
Not sure of the market in Germany, but I'd have thought a car salesman would have seriously questioned a purchaser if they wanted to by a new car that had the steering wheel on the 'wrong' side.
I think there is a member of this forum in the USA with a right hand drive three wheeler and I'm pretty sure they got a few questions on that decision. From memory, he ordered a right hand drive car to be more British.
There was one three speed three wheeler that was left hand drive, all the rest are right hand drive regardless of where they were sold.
I haven't taken possession of the car or even seen it in person yet. It just arrived off the delivery truck at the dealers today and that is about 6 hours away from me.
The were two errors. The dealer's, for some reason putting right hand drive on the order contract and mine for not noticing it before I signed it and sent it back.
I imported my first Morgan 4/4 as a used car from the UK. Of course, it was RHD. This was surprisingly easy to get used to, and in fact a bonus when we were on vacation in Scotland. So if you accept the car, you will get used to it, but you should demand a significant price reduction for this error. Harald
