In 1980 I bought a 4/4 because when we test drove a +4 and +8 and lived in London my now ex found that the +8 was hard for her to steer at low speeds and that the +4 not a lot better.

Next winter I will be in a position to start seriously looking to renew by Morgan ownership again..... Now at the moment I am without a wife / partner...... now don't worry I am not after borrowing a wife or partner !!!!

When I buy my pocket will run to a 3 or so year old +4 or 4/4 or older Roadster It will be an acquisition to keep until I am driving a bath chair.

Working assumption is that somewhere out there is a lady mad enough to take me on..... who likes cars and boats.....

Which of the three models is likely to give a lady driver the easiest and most fun drive? The 4/4 I would not think a problem but what about the other two?

I think you will find a standard Roadster similar to +8, however if you find a +8 or Roadster with either front suspension mods from Mulfab, roller bearings under top springs or the Suplex suspension with similar Roller bearings you will probably be surprised how light the steering is even at low speeds. The factory did start fitting the roller bearings and did away with the reaction plates under the top springs but not sure when they started doing this.

From what I have read if you are after a comfort ride the Suplex system is the one, Williams Morgan will fit for about £850 all in. I believe they are about to fit to a demo car, so you could try it out if you can get to.

Be careful what you wish for you may end up married again with a shed full of kids and no Mog. Anyway you can't date in a mog so I hear . Go and have a go in each a 4/4 has chuckability a +8 has grunt a +4 a little of both a roadster a bit like a +8 without the grunt . If you are out to catch a woman then you should be asking the pretty side of life not us ugly grumpy looking lot . Ask Julia and the girls at the Mog mag what they like in a mog who know's they may do a write up ( that would be a laugh ). Beware you dont crack up I slipped up on Sunday walking past a load of shoes , I said "those look nice " . So she bought two pairs ( blue & red deck shoes ) I have to pay for one pair . But being a woman she had to have some new clothes to go with them , so I spent a long time in the womens clothes dept . Glad to get out, 12-30am snug in bed she comes into the room puts the light on and asks are you awake , "NO" then puts on her new clothes and asks me what she looks like in them . I DONT UNDERSTAND WOMEN AT ALL . Who but a woman ( ) would disturb your sexy dream I was just about to potter on with the mog .

Its not the drive,its the look! Pick the right colour and buy a dog and you'll be on the money. It worked for me in the past (red stag/old english sheepdog)

Gentlemen, I am not skirt chasing.....well not yet anyway or using a mog to enable that past time

rather more interested in getting a mog that should I end up attached again the lady would have a car that she would enjoy driving..... and being driven in. I cannot see myself getting attached to any lady who was not interested in open top motoring and sailing

I'll just go and ask Mrs P which Morgan she thinks would be best for picking up the ladies - no, hang on, that's not such a good idea...or would be best suited for a new partner to drive - damn that won't work either...

The latest Sigma engined 4/4 Sports and Bespokes are very easy to drive. The steering is surprisingly light and the Mazda gearbox is a delight to use. As previously stated +4s and Roadsters have far heavier steering. (The earlier 4/4s - 1.8 Zetec lay somewhere between, in terms of steering weight).
I am lucky, in that the lovely Lady Budster is a fan of old cars, but be warned of one pending issue. . . . LUGGAGE.
Our solution is a Samsonite case that goes onto the luggage rack, which is 95% occupied by the lLB's items. I am reduced to a small sports bag that goes behind the seats. The lLB also has a small bag for the ferry, that again goes behind the seat.
Why do women need so many clothes????? (But that could be the subject of a seperate thread)

I have one Morgan friend who actually bought a 4 Seater, just to reduce the potential for disputes!
