I decided to run the boiling test on the sensor, just to check that its ok. Its not. I´ve got the same fishy readings as last time. So still at square one.

That seems a bit odd, maybe another tack would be to test the air flow meter, as these are known to be unreliable and will upset the ECU if they go wrong and can stop the engine firing up. I still think an ECUmate would be the best way to. Investigate. Good luck.

I´ll bought sensor #2 from a shop in Sweden just so I could check if this was the fault. The guy in the store told me to "boil" the sensor before mounting it, just in case. Now I have boiled it and this sensor shows correct readings. I´m now were god at boiling sensors, so if any one wonders how its done, please let me know  But I didn´t get all the way so I could do a proper test, because my kids have made other plans for me.

I did the same recently with my new thermostat sensor - ended up with quite a rig as I also connected it to the guage so I knew what L, N and H meant in degrees! Eathing the sensor in a pryex jug with a jump lead back to the block with one eye on the thermometre and the other on the guage was fun

One hand on the sensor, one hand on the thermometer and one to write down. Now let see, one, two....three hands. Hmmm how did I do it. ????? Child labor. I found a way to use my 8 year old daughter Practicing her writing.

I had a similar intermittent problem with my 99' plus 8 . It would cut out when warm. It turned out to be the temperature sensor. It was telling the ecu that it was -5c so of course would pump in loads of fuel that choked the engine.
A cheap fix also - £12.87 for the sensor.

With a new working temp sensor and a new battery, I´m now have a working Plus 8.
(Found out that is was the original battery from 1996 still mounted in the car).
Thanks for all the great tips from the forum.
