I'm about to Dynamat behind & under the seats on my M3W. Behind the lower backrest on the bulkhead there is what appears to be sound proofing. Was it present on your car & if so did you remove it before you did the job? Did you silicone seal any gaps beforehand?
Tim Hi Tim Is it black like in this picture?  If so no I left it on. I didn't silicon the gaps, I overlapped / filled them with the off cuts. I did seal the rear square section that you can see the seatbelts from the boot and also the prop tunnel section.

Where is the best point to leave a drain hole? forward of the crossmember or under the seats?

I have been wondering about putting in drain holes in strategic places , but then thought they equally could become even more filling up points so have backed off to date. Any one got any bright ideas about letting water out as you drive along ?  NOT  ( I have re written that sentence 5 times now and cant improve on the double entendre  )

I would have thought that a small flap of rubber partially glued to the underside, covering the hole would act as a good 1 way valve?

A neoprene flap valve then............
MGB's had holes in the floors and underneath were rear facing metal U shaped covers.

Or do as one 4 wheeler does, fit bath plugs into his floor panels! Or; the screw in hot water bottle stopper, as fitted to the Lotus VI we saw parked in the ferry queue at Portsmouth?

Ha - with a bath plug size hole I might be able to let out some water as I drive along !
