There is sense in your wisdom, a good flying jacket for colder days, I did not have a Musto type jacket and my wife purchased a Morgan blue one on sale as a present. On spring days I use a Paramo walking fleece with a thin ski fleece under. Thinking about it I have also used a ski jacket. cheers

God save me then. I can't look good out of the car never mind in it !

Nope! I admit it's a heavy jacket but in my opinion, much more practical than a flying jacket as sheepskin has a huge ability to soak up rain which horsehide just shrugs off.

As for price, I didn't pay £700 for it, I've had it a few years now, and car driving is not the only occasion I wear it.

Though I have a sheepskin flying jacket, I often use a Barbour Bushman jacket which I have owned for years: Warm, weatherproof and not too bulky.

A yacht is a hole in the water into which you pour money.

I never made money on any of mine frown

For winter I use the Centenary quilted Morgan jacket which is excellent, and from the bargain rack was £50.
So far I haven't found a leather/sheepskin jacket that didn't restrict arm movement, so I daren't order one on line. However those US Navy jackets look great.
So for non-winter use I have a waterproof sailing jacket (Slam!), and under that goes polo shirt, sweatshirt, (and fleece if colder). None of that restricts arm movements so I'm quite happy.

The beautty of the US Navy jackets is that they have an "Action Back" that gives more arm movement. That is the thing i have in my shooting tweed jacket so you have the ability to swing a shot gun in the field.

Is the US Navy Jacket the same as a Pea Jacket/Coat?

The US Navy jacket is the G1 as used by the navy pilots it was an issue jacket used after the A2 jacket was finished and used during the Korean war. There is information about their jackets on the web site, US Wings

"More technically, the jacket may be considered the U.S. Military flight jacket developed in 1947 and used in the Korean War, since the term "G-1" was not used as a label for this fur-collared military-issued jacket until after World War II. However, the term "G-1" has come to be used for this style of naval leather flight jacket. Prior to the end of World War II, and starting in 1940 when it was officially named by the U.S. Navy, the jacket had the military spec number of M-422."
