Must have been around 1989, around four years into my dad's ownership of his '85 4/4. I'd passed my driving test a couple of years previously, but it took that couple of years for me to convince him I wouldn't wrap it around a tree. So nervous was I (on my first journey with the old man as a passenger) that the first thing I did was stall as I pulled out of the driveway. I was so embarrassed about that, I forgot to worry about anything else and was completely hooked.

I'm now this generation's custodian of that same car. My kids have another decade or so before being legally old enough to drive it, and I can imagine it'll be at least the same couple of years before they can convince me they're responsible enough to be allowed loose by overprotective parents. Overprotective of the Morgan, that is, not of the kids....

Remember it very well. October 1967 bought a 1959 4/4 Series 2 exchanged a 1964 Mini Cooper. Drove it back home, in the dark on 3rd party only insurance from Cloverleaf (only firm that would insure me at 18). Father went ape and paid for fully comprehensive.
Life time love affair with Morgans started with 35 bhp and 3 speed box, 70 mph downhill with a following wind. Deerstalker and pipe came as accessories.
I loved it so did my girlfriend now wife.
Lot to answer for that car.
