Has anybody else found the rear fog and reversing light to be a bit of a nuisance? I’ve had mine taped up with insulation tape for some time now as I feared I might lose them. The issue seems to be the thin metal rolled thread that holds the lens into the rubber mount. The threads have never seemed to engage very well. Tried different fixes without success, ptfe tape, Vaseline on the rubber etc. Could never get them to tightened and align the dummy rivets in either the horizontal or vertical orientation. And if you did manage to get them tight they felt like they would pop back out again at the next pot hole. So now they have gone. Replaced them with something a little more conventional, courtesy of the Morris Minor parts bin and some new rubber mounts. They were the best combination I could find that were still in keeping with the character of the car, although I know the purest may not agree! Old & new

Yes I have a red bulb in at the moment. To be honest it’s a bit “pinky” so have ordered the brightest reddest led I could find, and if that doesn’t work it will be a new red glass.

That looks so much better. Are the rubber mounts simply the ones Morgan uses for the front indicators - or something else entirely?
If you could share part numbers etc it would be much appreciated.

Hi Nigel The light units (side/indicators) can be found on this page: http://www.morrisminorspareparts.com/front-lightsBe sure to ask for the single filament version. The mounts came from ESM Morris Minors Ltd and are also on ebay The bad news is the angle on the back of the mounts needs to be re cut slightly to suit the car. I screwed them to a block of wood and used a chop saw. The hard rubber cuts very cleanly. I think the angle was 25 degs. You also need to drill the holes. The good news is there are no mods to the car.

Thanks for the links. The plinths and lights do look great, but the key question is, how bright are they? In particular the rear "fog" lamp needs to be bright, at least as bright as a brake light. I don't think the Morris lamp units used have a very effective reflector. The reverse light is less important.
I'd be interested to see photos especially with the LED red bulb!
