I'll take a look tonight Peter... Your camera can go to higher resolutions than the one I have returned. Wondering whether to take another look at the Polaroid mentioned in another thread some months ago...

There is actually a higher resolution available but it takes too long to load more than a few minutes on YouTube and uses more memory. I have it set to 1280 x 720 at the moment but it has lower and higher resolutions available. The higher resolutions are 1440 x 1080 and 1920 x 1080. I have noticed that YouTube also seems to "adjust" the resolution in some way and that videos uploaded often seem to have a lower resolution than the original. Hi Peter Agreed. The higher resolutions do take a little longer to load because the processor isn't fast enough; which is why with the H.264 encoding, it's the best option for the current technology available. The J-MPEG is the previous generation, but it also takes up plenty of memory: in fact, more than the H.264! This of course means that if there is a 5 hour recording time with the H.264 using a 32GB card, it's under 4 with the J-MPEG.... and that's a lot! Higher resolution systems will mean less still!

But SD cards are cheap(er) these days so changing them each time you have to stop to fill up is not a great hardship (and can be reused/downloaded to a harddrive)......

The info I gave wasn't mine, I'm afraid. In fact, it came from Techmoan, the guy on YouTube; and whose reviews on dash cams are both informative and entertaining.
