I would like to come back to the beginning of this thread. Two days ago I also changed the bulbs in the sidelights against LEDs. The second photo shows the difference. The LEDs are from Ebay €3,80 a pair including postage.
Well it's taken a while. My angel eyes have been resting in the garage all year, but now, today I took the plunge. First I fitted some 2 pin plugs for the sidelamp units so that I can switch back easily if needed.
As said earlier, slightly fiddly to fit with three small screws per side to fit the lamp unit to the inner bezel, plus one more to affix to the car. Note here that I have previously fitted a strip of neoprene around the inner bezel, because it whistles at speed, and this reduces the whistling, as air passes between the outer bezel and inner, um, bezel.
When the outer bezel is clipped on, it barely locates because the brackets are so small. So here is some 4mm neoprene around the lower edge and across the screw hole. The purpose of this is to pull the bezel down so it fits tighter against the brackets at the top,
Fitted and 'off'.
Fitted and 'on'. Taken in the dark, but the flash spoils the effect.
