Has anyone seen the new factory bonnet stays which are mounted alongside the centre bonnet hinge? Nick Yes - our car came with them (Jan-14 build) - a pleasant surprise.

I've just finished fitting a pair of bonnet stays made by our fellow TMer Cain. He asked me if I would like to try a pair out to test them and his fitting instructions and I have to say that I am mightily impressed. He has looked at the various shortcomings of the stays on the market and in particular the ease of operation and security of the bonnet whilst open and come up with a very nice solution. Beautifully engineered with stainless water jet cut brackets. Rubber covered lower ball joint bolted to lower bonnet catch. Upper water jet cut stainless bracket with sliding collar lock fits to inside of bonnet catch and clips onto ball fitting on top of stainless stay Stay in folded position clipped to stainless bracket. I have discovered a MAJOR problem with these stays. With both hands free now there is a TERRIBLE temptation to start detailing and polishing the engine, accessories and even polishing under the bonnet. So, if you buy them you will be TEMPTED! Be Warned!

After returning from Prescott today, I thought I might get some peace to get on with various bits a pieces, but it has been one of those days... Bonnet latches are riveted - OK there's a fix, put them on hold for the moment. Reverse light has died, change bulb (old one definitely stuffed) to find no power to reverse light - wiring check required. OK, no worries, interior mirror is losing its bond to windscreen, have a Librands replacement (but it looks as though the instructions may be in the file that went with RTA when I sold it - need to find new instruction sheet). Right, final shot, fit Ian's (Wirewheel) round mirrors - can I get the damn plastic caps off the lower arms (without breaking), NO. Oh well, bucket, sponge, followed by some polish then... Now on the scrumpy
