I've been using Chrome for a while. IE on this PC is so clogged it stalls...
Still haven't installed the replacement PC - yet...
May be worth checking your User Settings, Edit Preferences above, but I don't remember changing any language setting. Not running spell checker here...

I have to be honest here Graham. I don't think these computer jokes of yours are very funny; far from your best efforts in fact.

Have you tried settings in the Control Panel for regions? I thought this was where it controlled the rest of the computer settings for those programmes without individual ability to set language

Giles: I think Windows is a huge joke!

Digimap: I set that anyway but it doesn't seem to work here. As I said, it's probably the forum's site. No worries.

Tidal drift (*) is a bit quick for Morgan owners...more tectonic.

(Shouldn't that be long shore drift?)

I think you'll find that the one laughing the hardest is a Mr Bill Gates.

Just picked up on this drifting thread...hope this might help.

I access the forum on 2 PCs, one using Windws7 and Firefox, the other using Apple's latest OS and using either Chrome or Firefox and occasionally Safari. Until recently Firefox was having "issues" with Flash, which is why I decamped to Chrome, which I'm growing to like.

Spell checker using firefox with windows doesn't work.
Spell checker on the Mac works well, with all three brousers: it clearly uses the Mac OS system.

BTW I haven't used IE for years, it is both insecure and clunky.
