I understand that. Mendip centre member was involved in a serious road accident yesterday. The air ambulance was used and his condition is described as serious. The driver, was also taken to hospital. The pictures shown in the Wiltshire Times shows a very bent Morgan.
I am sure all TMers will wish them both a speedy recovery.

+3. From those photos, unless there was a rollover, it doesnt seem to be enough damage to the vehicle to create serious injury. I hope they were not hit by the bonnet as it left the car.

I spent a few minutes on this photo with a friend because we witnessed a very close call yesterday. A straight road, long view, side entrance. Car behind me overtakes but I can see another vehicle approaching from the side. That driver seems to look to their left but not right (remember this is France) and pulls into the main road resulting in a very near miss.

That is nasty: they are at a good hospital and lets all keep our fgers crossed that they make a good recovery.
The Mog seems quite new. Damage is extensive as although most damage is on the drivers side the wing is buckled on the near side, suggesting the chassis is bent. BUT the screen looks intact and the door apatures seem to be as they should be, although it is difficult to see, the picture isn't very high quality. It is obvuus the steering wheel is displaced. It is a standard padded wheel, I woinder if that helped mitigate the drivers injuries.
What is odd is that the passenger seatbelt looks to be fully extended and hasn't retracted. This suggests it failed. I hope that the injuries wern't caused by a faulty seatbelt, allowing the passenger to be thrown about. But I don't see any sign of blood on the car, which is good.
If the bonnet came free would the leather strap have stopped it flying away? The way the car is designed it would be quite easy for the front catches to come lose if the chassis is displaced or the cowl broken, both of which looks as they might have happened.
I always remember the bikers mantra: any car/truck/bike within my "ring of safety" is driven by a homicidal idiot planning to kill me. The ring of safety changes shape and size with speed, but basically you allow space to slow, avoid or stop as soon as the ring is violated. It isn't 100% but it certainly helps.
