As I'm about to be transferred to the Bomber Command I'll try and bring up the rear.

Quote:
When I visited the factory last February I asked for extra care with all nuts and bolts, because the car would do a big maiden voyage, followed by first service in Lisbon, follwed immediately by another several hundred miles trip to Caramulo, followed by a hill climb event, followed by a return to Lisbon.

This would be like me asking Harley to take a bit more care on my new bike as I'm heading off to Sturgis and then on through Wyoming and ending up back in Missouri.

It sounds like a joke, but unfortunately I know Mario was serious about his comment.

Can you imagine in today's world that after paying this much money for a NEW car/cycle you would even dream of having to ask for special attention as I don't want to break down for at least 2k miles.

All kidding aside, back in the Harley AMF days, '70s to mid '80s, I know plenty of people that bought brand new Electra Glides that didn't make it 200 miles home without having to be trailed back or on home. The AMF years for Harley were terrible to say the least. Everyone felt that AMF had left Harley out to dry until the internal employee buyout back from AMF got them on the straight and narrow again. But to this day the AMF built bikes are looked down upon as cheap and undependable. In modern days, I've even heard them called the Yugo years!!! frown

Seeker: We've communicated before.. A squadron with a name is a must, but I haven't bought, mostly because of the issues. In any case, I'll fly in your formation any day.

Piloto, it would be my honor and pleasure ! wine

Squadron name ? History provides, and has to be, at least for me : (American) Eagle Squadron !

Hopefully all will be sorted soon at MMC, have you driven one ? You insights would be interesting, as far as the 'flying on the ground' comparison goes.

Tally Ho ! thumbs cheers

I can only offer "over the horizon targeting" and intelligence from mainland Europe just now!

As vehicle is in Italy it may come back with five reverse gears and one forward in case I get attacked from the rear!

Can 4 wheelers come along?
drive

Especially if port of departure is Plymouth..... wine

We could certainly put together a TM escort from Taunton to Plymouth. At least 5 local TMers come to mind.
