The cigarette lighter on my 2006 roadster seems very sensitive to the plug position when I try to use my air compressor. It has once fused when the power plug was inserted (ooh aah missues).

Has anyone found a relible alternative unit.
e bay is full of very cheap (AKA risky) Asian stuff & I am not sure I want that in my Mog given it is always on.

I replaced my ciggie lighter with a unit that I think came from Maplin- can't find it now on their website, but here's something similar-

The cigarette/accessory socket can be temperemental and can't be relied on, I still have nightmares from when my sat nav died in Rouen in the rain and in rush hour traffic because it hadn't been charging for hours when It had been plugged in. If you can't source a reliable replacement, and I haven't managed it, one option is to run a direct connection from the battery and plug the accessories into that.

When I first took delivery of my S1 Roadster the wires to the cigarette lighter were reversed so that the centre contact was positive. I got through three Sat Nav cables before I worked out what was going on! Easy to put right but expensive on Sat Nav cables.

In Australia, you get the plug, but not the cigarette lighter. It is illeagal to smoke in a vehicle that has anyone under 16 in it in Western Australia. My tin top has four plugs, 2 in front two in back for fridge.

I fitted a good quality after market double plug directly to the battery with a 10 amp inline fuse.
