Great dash , I like wood dashes and lots of chrome switches etc , the old dash wasn't half bad though ! I haven't got a radio as there's just a panel with two screws ready for one and no aerial , do I need on though - I have pops and bangs to listen too !

Thanks Roger, but I think I'll pass on that idea.. Just doing this one was quite enough hassle! I'm ok with most stuff but electrickery isn't my forte.

yes Aldermog, it's a cut out.. I thought after looking at how the cars wired plus the small fire (read panic to cut power off! thankfully I'd left the battery terminal loose) it would be a good idea to have one.

One question though, it would make sense to use the isolator as another security device and take the key out when it's parked up. I don't intend to cut power while it's running (unless I need to!) , it would only be when turned off, so is there any reason why this might cause issue with the ECU etc?

Madmax, first a welcome.

Radios... Hmmm. Some will tell you with a bit of effort a good sound system will work ok. Others will not bother and as you say prefer to listen to the music of their intake and exhaust. For me, it's a pain.. Radio is too far away to reach comfortably while driving and I can't see the darn thing anyway so I dab around in the hope I get something or I put a cd in. Mostly though I don't bother. My 4/4 has Jenveys and a sports exhaust so I have that to keep me happy.

We have a CD/radio fitted only use it when stopped having lunch or a coffee. This is the only option I would not repeat

Great job. Well done. Your old dash looked good but the new one is fantastic. The new dash lay out on the new GDI was one of the reasons I opted for an earlier model - not realising how easy (Ho Ho !) it is to change one over !

And lets be honest, the aerials Morgan fit to the classic range are totally naff and in keeping with their wing mirrors. Hence the radio reception is very poor.

We would not be without one. Our stereo system has a remote control. In a trad Morgan it is almost essential. A lot of our trips are quite long so some music helps the time pass and despite the throttle bodies and sports exhaust we can hear the music quite well at normal highway speeds. We seldom listen to the radio and have a couple of USB memory sticks with a good selection of MP3s.

Once on the Autostrada at 130 kph or more the wind noise is too much but at speeds of around 100 kph it is fine. Nothing nicer than tootling along a country road with the hood down and some nice music playing.

Can't agree!
I fitted a bog standard £10.00 Morgan aerial and it works really well, at least with DAB using this:

DAB Converter

It feeds an Alpine CDE 136 BT which works well, and as Peter says, is good up to 60 mph.
All the BBC stations are strong and don't cut out, the main national ones also sound good.

I was pleasantly surprised...
