Will it ever be the same again, now it is part of a publishing conglomerate? Certainly, it is unlikely that the corporate lawyers will allow the sort of posts that have been made under TVR.

Whilst PetrolTed says that he will still be 'heavily involved in the site for some years' his commitment cannot be the same now that he is a 'shirt'.

Let's hope that they have not been talking to Simon too...

I have just come home after spending 3-days and 2 nights at the BETT Show, Olympia, and I am shattered, so will comment on this when I'm more alert...

But it does make me laugh, especially as there was so much venom when I mentioned Talk Morgan over on PH - people defending a business, against the big bad, non-commercial, non-profit TM which I run and fund personally as a place where like-minded Morgan lovers can share a common interest and passion.

The enthusiast angle of Pistonheads died the moment it became a for-profit site imho.

Money, as we all know, changes everything... even enthusiasm.

Agree with all you say. I have never posted but have been 'lurking' for quite a while (Thats how I found out about this board).

BTW who the hell is 'phazer' and why is he on a crusade against Aero's??

I was over at the Autosport International Show today and it was jointly sponsored by Autosport and Pistonheads.com, that's one heck of a prestigous brand association for what is the largest motorsport show in the world. Pistonheads will surely never be the same again.

I was one of the earliest members and knew Ted in the days when it was purely a TVR site. It's a sign of the times that what was once an amateur enthusiast forum, becomes a valuable customer universe for marketing purposes.

Having been a PH regular since it started I remmeber a similar furore when Ted started putting up Adverts. (how shocking!!!). Everyone said then that the site was dead etc etc etc

I think this is the same - PH is a well run ship - DAve does an extreemly good job holding it all together and by and large the user base is friendly and funny.

I've attended many many PH events over the years and made some good friends there - and I'll remain a PH regular - primarily because it's such a mine of useful info that crosses the boundaries of marque

Aah my friend Phazer... (top of the morning to you Phazer BTW - I know you will be reading this).

I wish I could tell you his agenda but he kept it hidden

Mr_Tony, I agree it can be a good site - especially for cross brand chat; however, I do fear the commerical sale to Haymarket may change the balance of PH (which would be a shame and I hope it doesn't) as they will surely want a return on their investment.

Boshly, you weren't one of the bad ones - they were people who jumped it from other forums to have a dig on the Morgan forum and then jump back again! Jump in, stir, jump out... typical troll mentality imho.

I think some PH regulars got labeled as trolls too - craigw - long time pher, car fanatic and organiser of Vmax posted some pretty innocuous comments about a poorly driven Morgan - and half the board jumped all over him - so it cuts both ways.

Phazer on the other hand is likely to be a bored 13 year old on a mission to wind other people up - having been around motoring forums this long, it's amazing how these trolls tend to appear when the schools in the UK break up for holidays...

I hope PH maintains it's open stance and inclusiveness for all marques - the fundamental point about it is that it's for all enthusiasts - no matter what marque.

Talkmorgan can fulfil a more detailed Morgan enthusiast brief that PH can't match (and wouldn't as it's not a commercial viability) in terms of tech questions and individual forums for distinct models etc

(NB - Some morgans are driven badly - I've seen some woeful moves by some doddery old types in their 4/4's!)
