Here's a question for y'all!
1960 Morgan +4, TR3 Engine, Press on flywheel ring gear
I recently replaced the starter with a gear reduction version while I had the engine out for a rebuilt. The new starter is from Morgan Spares. Before I call them and sound like an idiot

I figured I'd ask here. The new Starter makes a clank and doesn't seem to be engaging with the flywheel, crank/fan doesn't spin either. The starter that came off of the engine was a 10 tooth (i'm not sure if it was original), the new one is a 9 tooth. The engine builders said that the 9 tooth is the correct starter for the press on flywheel.
Can anyone confirm this? Hopefully it's just the wrong starter and I didn't somehow put the flywheel in backwards
I haven't tried re-installing the old starter yet, but could do this just to make sure the problem is starter-related. I've just kept busy bolting everything else back on.
Thanks!!!
