A nice looking car with the future in mind - saw a white one in the metal a month ago and they have poise.
Enjoy your miles.

The tesla supercharger system provides free charging for the life of the car. Also I have signed up to Ecotricity which has a network of free chargers around the country. I'm not planning on ever paying to fill up :-)

I did charge up overnight at my house a couple of times but don't bother now. I stop at the Reading or Heathrow supercharger on the way home and top up there.

The progress in development of these things is just staggering, isn't it? 300 mile range, and £68k for the top of the range model. That Autopilot system looks pretty funky too. I think it looks great too, it's reminiscent of a Maserati to my eyes.

Tim, price ranges from £50k for small battery base model up to about £120k high performance fully loaded model.

Realistic range for me is about 200 miles max based on the different way I drive from time to time, sitting in traffic, use of other electrics in the car etc.

Ah, I must have misread the site, 120k is a bit rich for my blood. When they can get a 300 mile range in a sub £50k package I think I'll be seriously tempted. Cover the garage roof with solar panels, fit a bank of batteries and an invertor, and I'd never need to pay for fuel again :-)

Makes great sense as a company car purchase, so long as you have enough of your 500K annual investment allowance left you can claim 100% tax write off in first year for the value of the Tesla and there is virtually no company car / benefit in kind tax for the driver.

When the above is considered total cost of ownership looks very attractive. If it is your own company and you are the driver you effectivly score twice from the tax man, I calculate the true cost as a company director would be less than 50% of retail once the tax breaks have worked their magic. And that is assuming you are paying for electricity and before you have factored in fuel savings.

On top of this its a very interesting car and I guess residuals will hold firm with the eight year drive train and battery warranty offered with the car.

If anyone going to buy a Tesla, I thought it might be you Ian smile
Tesla is really expanding their supercharging network rapidly in the UK, it makes sense for you to have one of these.
Which model? P85 or S85?

I've ordered mine, coming in late June. grin2
