Talk Morgan Forums Morgan Sports Cars Maintenance & Servicing Clutch Pedal Shaft Housing Attachment Bolt Loose

I recently pulled up the carpet to hoover and noticed the centre bolt of the three clutch pedal inboard housing bolts appeared loose, it was a few threads proud of the housing block. Check tightened and it is tight. I think the bolt impinges on the shaft to prevent the shaft from rotating. Using good engineering practice when finding a loose bolt I checked the bolts either side. The aft bolt is tight but the forward bolt rotates and does not feel like it is connected to anything. I did not have time to investigate but thought I would check to see if anyone has experienced similar before pulling out the clutch pedal to see what has happened.

Not surprising a pedal shaft securing bolt has worked loose as I don’t think they have any locking feature. If I understand correctly the “aft” and “forward” bolts just go through the plywood floor. These will never feel “nice and tight” and beware of over tightening as you will crush the plywood.

Thanks Roger, good picture, that all looks very familiar. I'm back home next week and will take a look underneath. I will be very pleased if all that needs doing is tightening a nut.
