Does a 1990 Plus 8 come standard with an electrical outlet in the dash for plugging in GPS? (In states we call it a cigarette lighter). If not can one be easily adapted?

I don't know if they did as standard but can be very easily fitted.

My 96 plus 8 had it under the dash left Side of the steering column, be worth looking there. I did not notice till I upgraded the dash

Very simple to install, pop a line fuse in the feed wire for safety especially if you are making the feed permanently live as they are on most cars. You can also use the socket for a battery conditioner then.

As Colin says they are very simple to install.
I put a waterproof socket in the vertical shelf behind the seats, with leads going back to the battery terminals. On Colin's recommendation I did fuse it as it is permanently live. The only watch point is to ensure that you wire the earth side up correctly, the external case of the socket is the earth side of the circuit.

I've got 2 - a switched supply to a triple output screwed to the outside of the glovebox with the sockets pointing downwards. This is fused at 10A and is used for dash cam and satnav.
The other is mounted on top of the transmission tunnel at the rear, up against the rear bulkhead. It is directly connected to the battery so it is always live, and is fused at 15A. I have used it for powering the laptop when data logging from the OBD port.

I fitted one on my previous 1993. 4/4.
Made a bracket for it and screwed it to the frame up under the passenger side dash.
Found a spare wire in the loom for connection and included an in-line fuse. It was ignition controlled so not permanently live. Cost less than £10 for all parts.

EJS, there are numerous ones that can be bought from any auto parts store. Most will require some wiring connections. There is another that comes with two alligator clips to connect directly to the battery and about three feet of wire. I use this kind in my Series 1 where I don't want to violate the originality.
PS Where in the US are you?? I'm in Florida.

Thanks to all for the input. Have ordered one online. Mark, I am in Deland Florida. Picking up my "new" Morgan Plus 8 in UK in about two weeks and headed for France. When do you leave for Wales? Cheers.
