In Vermont it is almost laughable:

VIN # check
Wheels attached check
lights work check
signal, brake light and hazard light function check

Attach sticker pay $30 motorcycle fee and leave

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Hi thanks for all,the advice.
Nearside unit bowl rusted thru at the base, which is presumably why there is no real adj.
drivers side not rusty but unless I am being really thick I cannot see an adjusting mechanism of any real utility. I have slackened and pushed the bowl upwards very slightly and I reckon it will do. Horrible engineering and the quality of the unit is terrible. Will be replacing asap.

Yes, the base of mine cracked, admittedly on a nasty pot hole.
the base cup is very thin but has an oval shaped apeture for vertical beam adjustment.
its a difficult art not tightening it too hard and keeping the support wahser properly round the appeture.

Our early one now has a nice shiny MOT ticket alongside a service...no material issues with either...now for return of some warmth for a summer of fun!

The standard unit looks a bit like ones from Holden

I don't think tricycles are subject to (our equivalent to) MOT. Yet.

I know the legislation on motorbikes is ready and about to be published, and will check if it rules on three wheeled vehicles. I suspect YES, mostly because there are nowadays hundreds of three wheeled piaggios circulating in urban areas, it has become a very fashionable kind of scooter.

Anyway, so far if it has less than 4 wheels no "mandatory periodic inspection" (that's what they're called here) is needed.

And for regular cars (not the case with trucks and lorries) the first inspection is only when they reach 4 years after build. Then 6, then 8, then every year.

Owning a 2014 three wheeler, and if the same logic applies, I suppose it'll be subject to inspection in 2018, if indeed the relevant legislation is published.

There is but that's for direction.
There is an elongated hole in the bowl that is meant to aid adj. however when you tighten it tends to point down. I think I have got it just good enough.
Re- test on Friday.
