My manual Plus 8 is now 18 months old with 3000 miles on the clock. 450 of those were done over the weekend on a trip to Somerset which was hugely enjoyable. On the return journey, however, when backing off the throttle on to the brake or vice versa at low speed in either first, second or third gear there is an audible clunk. I will certainly get the car looked at whilst still under warranty but wondered whether any of you have experienced this and if there is an easy fix ? Any help will be much appreciated.

I get a slight driveline effect at very low revs if I'm lazy but this sounds worse and seems as though it wasn't there before.

I wouldn't say what I get is a clunk - but it is driveline shunt, and not really all that bad at all. Sounds like something might need tightening or adjusting...

Sounds very alarming on the Mk1 the first time you hear it and is noticeable all the time till you get used to it.On your plus 8 its more or less all gone, i suppose you might get it in high gear at very low speed (wrong gear)pulling away.If its noticeably clunky better get it checked out. Slight creaking noises whilst parking or in tight areas are all the rose joints having a bit of a strech.

Just spoke to a mate of mine who knows the plus 8 very well,in its BMW application its fitted with a harmonic damper apparantly there is no room on the new plus eight to fit one.So you will get a little bit of a shunt at slow speeds but nothing like the MK1 Aero, hope this puts your mind at rest.

Great car Em
