I'm sure my old aero did when in sport mode and you dropped it down a gear manually

Peter I'd guess the mapping for the gearbox is different from you 320i to the wife's 435i.

It does go like stink but lacks the aero sound effects. frown

Yours is a pre-paddleshift model Neil?

I think the rev-matching (downshift blips) was introduced alongside the paddles and operates only in sport mode. This was explained to me whilst going up the hill at TOTH14 in the Speedster, but I was a little too terrified to take it all in... scared

It's a brand new one - mit der paddles. smile

I think you're not driving it hard enough Neil! drive

My understanding was that the only alteration to the original programme was to incorporate the paddles, the basic gearbox software remains the same (as developed on my old AeroMax) and if you're using manual the box certainly blips on down changes, though maybe not as much as a PDK in sports mode! cheers flag

I used the SS yesterday and although it does blip it doesn't appear to blip as aggressively as the Alpina programming. The Morgan/BMW programming is far lazier through the shifts, slurrying more on each change. The Alpina punches the shifts in quicker in manual mode. There are times when I think it would work on the SS and times when the lazy approach just seems right.

When the price comes down???

IIRC the 6HP is available in a number of guises (19,26,28,32) and each with different torque converter - which are the ultimate limitation on torque

I suspect any additional power will be hard and expensive to come by. A remap may find 10-15ps, but really you're looking at old skool tuning:
- ports polished
- bored/stroked
- lightweight crank, cylinders
- remove vanos and swap in an aggressive cam
- optimised intake manifold
- optimised exhaust manifold

All of which will be expensive. I am tempted to talk to the guys at Emmenegger Power to see what is possible with that engine

Shell Helix 5W-30 in my +8 (same engine as yours) and I would recommend an oil change every 5,000 miles or 8,000km's.

What does your handbook say?
