An amazing story. I'm surprised that anything was left to restore after the action of tide and time, not to mention salt.
I have a friend in Sydney who was involved in the resoration of a fighter plane that had been recovered from the jungle in Papua New Guinea. I don't recall exactly what it was and I think it was only restored to be a static display.

I suspect that the only thing salvaged that was re-usable was the type and serial plate!!!!
