 I quite like the 70 Anniversary 4/4s, especially the pressed steel wheels. This one is based on a 1954 specification. Me too - love the wheels

If you were using it as a track day car or a basis for racing you would strip out heater, passenger seat, upholstery, carpets, some instruments and no doubt some other non essentials. Think Caterham and you get the idea. Stripped out gives you a great headline price point but the extras always come as a high price. As an example I upgraded a faulty PVC to mohair and it cost me an extra £250 the difference between the two materials. The labour is the same. Actually the mohair is easier to work with. The cost of a mohair hood over PVC if ordered new was £2000.

As a point of reference when I bought my 4/4 Sport in 2009 the price was £26,995 exc delivery, number plates and road fund license.
This was complete with windscreen, sidescreens and an everflex roof as standard.
I added a tonneau, Motolita steering wheel and stainless Anniversary crossmember covers, the final invoice was a spit away from £28,000 which I think is good value.
Considering that was 6 years ago I don't feel the increase is too crazy at all IMHO.
I have a listing of all the extras at that time if anyone is interested.
p.s. Door handles were standard...

The MMC ad on p26 in Miscellany is clearly printed...£29995 inc VAT +OTR
Have called Allon White - the car does not come with screen or hood/sidescreens etc - this adds £4725 to the price.
So its a stripped down 4/4 ( sport) very basic entry version. Does it come with door handles, if so its not a true poverty model

I'm trawling back through my fallible memory but I seem to recall that they were considering an entry level Speedster for each model, so this may be it.
Below poverty spec, obviously. Remember that the MGA and MGB's had a long list of extras, including the heater which wasn't standard until the mid sixties, when buyers went soft.
So MMC could drop the heater from the standard list and cut the price a bit more. It's Heritage you know. Yes but when I bought my 1966 MG Midget new the cost of the heater was only £12. The total cost on the road was only £674

So 12/674 = 1.78%
On a Morgan now then at £30k, the heater would be £534 if my rough & ready calculation is correct..............

Perhaps they see it as the starting point for a track day car. If so there should be tuning options available as a factory delivered package. And this, for me, is what they should be doing not giving the impression to new customers that it's a kit car build.

I think it's a cracking idea. Most Morgans are bought as fine-weather toys anyway, so why make the customer pay for a hood and windscreen if they aren't needed?
A set of Brooklands Aeroscreens (72 quid each from SVC), a 5 quid golf umbrella, a pair of cheap goggles for a tenner and you're sorted.
It's not like you couldn't save up a bit more and have the fripperies fitted later if you want. That's for the S-V-C tip Great prices
