The latest Elise style soft top model has 345bhp in 1130kgs. BUT, and this is really irritating, its gone all electronic in just the way we were saying we didnt like. Bosch fancy traction control with 4 different settings actually stops you going round a corner too fast and spinning. Though I guess if you went into a 50mph corner at 100 mph, nothing on earth would save you. Its enough to make you want a Morgan. happy3

Peter's response is pretty much my position also. The Trad Morgan is a fantastic touring machine, and we have covered long distances in a day, usually emerging quite fresh. The possible one exception was returning from Fort William last year, when torrential continuous rain meant packing the luggage in the rain, then setting off with the inside wet and steamed up. Eventually (after two and a half hours) the rain stopped and we got the roof down and from that point it was a great road trip, even though by the time we reached Yorkshire it was uncomfortably hot.

And best of all MrsW is totally comfortable doing this, and is often asleep, even on the motorway at speed. And she doesn't mind getting wet. Honeymoon in an MG Midget you see.

Have to say I agree with you yet again Mr W. That's my aim when I'm too old to cope with the soakings in my M3W..

Adventures. Gotta be done.

Weather was ok so away early one morning for a quick run to the airfield in light traffic. Stop at a red light in an inner city street and a grey haired pensioner lady who's come down from her apartment for the newspaper stands on the footpath looking at me and the Mog and just laughs.. Doesn't smile but laughs.

Check I'm not wearing my underpants on the outside and decide we are not a cause for ridicule but the cause of mirth. Tell her it's a lot of fun and she should try it. Light goes green. Day made. Never had so much fun in a car.

Nothin will ever come close to riding a bike like that.

My then used 4/4 replaced an Audi TT Coupe in 2005. I wanted to buy a soft top car in which a person of my advancing age would not end up looking like a complete idiot.
The decision in the end was between a Morgan and an old TR or Healey.
I ended up with the Morgan for a variety of reasons, that was 10 years ago.
I still own the same car and still love driving it.

Ha! Neilda well spotted. How could I have let that error slip through. I also notice a factual error in the last line I.e. Never had so much fun in a car. Not true. There was that night with Margaret in the back of my 1964 Holden, at the drive-in. Where is she now? Margaret, not the Holden.
