As a rule of thumb if you can't drink it you shouldn't cook with it. It's a gamble - is it worth tainting the food?

Scrumpy is a variable
Leave it be for a while (not in the fridge) and come back to it.
See how it fares - if you aren't familiar with it it can be quite sulphurous - oh and potent.
We used to start a night out at RAF Locking by sharing a gallon or two of Banwell scrumpy to keep the costs down on getting merry in W-S-M

what!
No roll mop herrings ? Anchovies ? Salmon pate ?
Surely these have to included in a TMers perfect picnic
I agree Stewart, you need something to keep the flies away from the nice food.

Speaking of cider; we carted a litre of farmhouse scrumpy back from old blighty. I popped it in the fridge and the other evening I was looking forward to sitting under the beech tree and enjoying a glass. Unfortunately it has not travelled well; probably the plus 40°C heat had something to do with it. It is a bit vinegary but also tastes a bit of esters.
Alis wants to cook something with it but i have some doubts. What does the TM panel think? Don't! Those alcohol breakdown products, aldehydes and esters will taint anything, other than perhaps old rollmop herring. You could try distilling it......

Must admit I like the idea of being a Morgan owning existentialist!
