Like you, when I first got by Morgan I had the same problem with the centre 'lift the dots'. (It was 15 years old at the time). All the others would worked but not the centre ones. i even nearly bent the Morgan door key out of shape trying to get it off. After a number operations it now had become like the rest. I find strong language helped.

My car has a much old style hood than yours, so I can not comment on the swivel pivots as I always attach the rear of my hood before raising the 'swivels'. As your hood is permanently attached I can not help you there.

Thanks for the reply - actually my 4/4 is a 'throw over' one not a permanently attached variety. It may be that I have to keep 'working' the centre fasteners until they loosen a bit - I guess that they may be under more tension than the others?

I have the same problem with the centre windscreen lifter on the toneau mainly due to lack of use.

Back in the 1960's (yes I am that old) the trick with my old Berkeley 3 wheeler was to open both doors and have some one sit inside. That took the tension off of the fasteners.

Only good for taking the hood off because if you did that when putting it on there was no way you could close the doors after.

happy lifting

The swivel pivots are designed specifically for the type of hood you have. They fit at (indeed replace) the pivot point of the hood frames, and work by moving the point at which the frames pivot so that the whole hood is under less tension and can be erected more easily. Then when you turn the lever, it snaps into a tighter position, tensioning the hood. Conversely, when removing the hood, flip the lever over to de-tension the hood, and the fasteners are no longer pulled tight and can be release easily. One of the web sites has a little animation of them working and if you see it in action it is even more obvious how it works.

I researched these when looking for my Morgan, though in the end didn't need them as I bought one with the later "easy-up" hood (not exactly a true description - but easier than the old style!)

Brilliant. Thanks very much for pointing me to the video. Can understand it now.
